How to make money on broken laptops and smartphones

Sergey worked in a repair service, but wanted to open his own workshop.

Victor Sikirin

talked to the owner of the repair shop

He was afraid that he would not even recoup the costs, but he succeeded.

Idea

Sergey has been repairing equipment for 6 years already. At first he just fixed phones for friends, then he worked in professional services.

Most of the service masters work piece-rate and receive 30-40% of the order value. In Voronezh, depending on the level of the master, the promotion of the point and the season, 15-40 thousand rubles a month are obtained.

Sergey quickly came to this income, but he could no longer earn money. To grow, he opened his own service in the fall of 2017.

Premises

To repair equipment, you do not need a special room: Sergei could do everything at home. But people do not trust home craftsmen, because in case of problems they cannot be found.

A workshop space of 10-15 m² is sufficient for a workshop. The main thing is that the place has good cross-country ability and is easy to find. The most passable places on the central streets and in busy shops have been occupied for a long time. And such rent is also expensive - it will be difficult for a novice craftsman with a minimum of equipment to recoup such expenses.

Sergei decided to open a workshop in a residential area where he lives. If people can take their phones to any service on the way to work or at lunchtime, then it is easier for them to bring laptops, TVs or printers from home to the nearest service.

30,000 RUR

it is worth renting a workshop of 50 m². Sergey managed to bring down the price to 12,000 R

Sergei was looking for a room for two months. He reasoned like this: the place should be on the ground floor, with access to the street and with an area for advertising - it is easier to attract customers this way. A suitable option for 50 m² was found for 30,000 R per month. In terms of area, this is more than necessary, but Sergei decided that in the future this space might come in handy: if things go well, there will be room for expansion. The landlord could not rent the premises for six months and agreed to bring down the price to 12,000 rubles.

Hardware and launch

For the start, Sergey used his own savings - 84,000 rubles. This money went to register an individual entrepreneur, pay for the first month of rent, purchase equipment, signage and expenses for the first 3 months. At first, the landlord wanted an advance payment 3 months in advance, but then agreed to a monthly payment.

The sign and the pillar cost 6000 R, the frame for the sign cost another 3000 R. Sergey mounted everything himself, because he can. Saved 5,000 rubles on a welder and workers.

Width = "1000" height = "666" class = "" style = "max-width: 1000px; height: auto"> A pillar sign together cost 6000 R

There was no furniture in the room, so they had to buy it. At first, Sergei wanted new white tables, as in the untwisted workshops. But then I decided to save some money. I bought two desks, an administrator's desk, shelves and a safe for storing phones at Avito for 13,000 rubles. New ones would cost at least 40,000 rubles.

Sergei already had a laptop and basic tools for repairing equipment. The rest of the tools had to be bought. Sergey bought a microscope and a monitor used, and everything else is new. It makes no sense to take a second-hand: the savings are insignificant, but the quality can affect the quality. He spent 50,000 rubles on equipment and tools.

There is a great demand for the repair of motherboards in computers and other equipment. For such a repair, you can take up to 8000 R, but for this the workshop needs a special infrared soldering station. The station costs 100-150 thousand rubles, Sergei does not have it yet. If a suitable order appears, he goes to repair the board to the workshop where there is a soldering station, and for the rental of equipment he pays 20% of the order value. So far, it is more profitable than buying your own soldering station right away.

Work permits and equipment certificates are not required for such a workshop. Authorized craftsmen who work with equipment under warranty receive special diplomas from brands. If desired, such a diploma can be obtained independently. But Sergei considers it superfluous: for several years no one has ever asked if he has a diploma.

The cash register is not needed yet. The law requires an entrepreneur providing services to draw up a price list, arrange a consumer corner with a complaint book and issue clients with strict reporting forms and receipts for the acceptance of equipment.

Parts Suppliers

There are five wholesale centers in Voronezh that supply spare parts. In three of them, couriers work, who will bring parts free of charge when ordering from 500 rubles. The courier will arrive in 2-3 hours after ordering. He can come at least several times a day: there are no restrictions, as long as you pay for orders. It is convenient - Sergei does not need to waste time on the road.

In order for the craftsmen to order parts from them, suppliers come up with loyalty programs. One of them launched a cumulative system of discounts - the more often and more you buy, the greater the discount. Others are guided by the one-time volume and types of equipment with which the workshops work. So far, Sergei has modest discounts - 5-10%.

Formally, there is a warranty for spare parts - 2-4 weeks after the sale. But it works only if the part has not yet been installed on the equipment. If the installed screen breaks, Sergey will have to order a new one and change it at his own expense. For 10 months of work, this has already happened several times.

Advertising and clients

The best advertisement is the quality of the renovation. It is important for people to trust the master and get their equipment in perfect condition. If a person once repaired a MacBook from a master and was satisfied, in the future he will come to him again and recommend it to his friends. Now every fourth client comes to Sergei on the advice of friends.

Most customers are brought by "2GIS", "Yandex-cards" and "Google-cards". Previously, Sergei pasted leaflets. A batch of 300 pieces together with a pasting machine costs him 1000 rubles. One posting could bring 10-15 clients, or it might not give a result. Now Sergey does not glue flyers - he considers it ineffective.

Sergey also posts advertisements on free boards on the Internet and works as an exit master. Often people are too lazy to drag the TV to the service or leave the house in the rain - it is more convenient for them to have the master come to them himself.

Sergey has a group on Vkontakte and an account on Instagram. They don't bring orders, but sometimes customers leave reviews there.

Prices

Sergey has a ready-made price list for standard procedures, but the prices there are conditional. For example, replacement of the screen will cost from 800 to 2000 RUR. But if the screen itself costs 15,000 R, then the price will rise.

It is Sergey's duty by law to draw up a price list. But in practice, it is not always possible to follow it. People can bring different techniques in any condition.

0 R

it is worth repairing an old "Nokia" or a Soviet receiver

Net profit for one repair - from 700 to 2000 RUR. Sergey adds this amount to the cost of spare parts. It will take only 300 rubles to replace the button, and will not take money for the repair of grandmother's old Nokia or Soviet receiver.

The maximum profit from one repair was 5000 R - then Sergey restored the laptop, which was first dropped during a family quarrel, and then doused with water. It is a pity that you cannot glue a family together in the same way that laptops are restored.

Problems

The biggest difficulties arise with clients. Most want to repair equipment cheaper, faster and with a one-year warranty. This is not always the case, which is why people often scandal.

A common case is a person brings an expensive phone that has run out of warranty. When Sergey disassembles it, he realizes that this is a refurbished phone with non-original spare parts. He tells the client about this, but he does not believe and believes that Sergei is trying to deceive him.

Most often, customers are dissatisfied with the price and time of the repair. Voronezh has few parts, especially for outdated models. If a person has brought a three-year-old smartphone, the parts for it have to be ordered in Moscow and delivery is expected from 3 to 5 days. People think it is too long, they get angry and can take away the equipment. But ordering spare parts in advance does not make sense - you never know what your customers will bring.

Sergei takes money for the work when he returns the equipment. Therefore, he must first pay for the parts from his own funds. Only after a few days, or even weeks, Sergei will return them. In this case, he always has a reserve of 10-20 thousand rubles. Sergey takes money in advance only if the part is expensive and is not in stock in Voronezh.

Working with expensive equipment, Sergei runs the risk of accidentally ruining it. For example, curved smartphone screens: it is difficult to glue them, the work will take a whole day, and there is a high risk of damaging expensive components. If Sergey is wrong, he may lose his monthly earnings. At the same time, Sergey takes only 2000 R for such work, because the client has already spent on the cost of the screen itself and does not want to pay more.

2000 RUB

takes Sergey for installing the screen on a smartphone

There is a seasonality in the repair of equipment. In winter and in bad weather, people come less. Before and after major holidays, the number of clients decreases 2-3 times. Two weeks before the New Year and the first half of January, almost no one came.

Sergei has no employees, it is too early to hire them. So far, there are too few orders for this, but in the workshop you still have to sit from 10:00 to 20:00. When there are no orders, Sergey works as a programmer.

Mobile devices have turned the world upside down. Today, few people imagine their life without a cell phone, personal computer, tablet and other equipment. However, nothing lasts forever under the moon and in life there is always a place for chance - devices fall, break, flooded with water, and in this case they need repairs. Today we will talk with the owner of a small equipment repair shop, who literally created his business from scratch. Alexander will tell us about the pitfalls of this case and share his experience.

Good afternoon, Alexander! You say that you started your business from scratch. Is it really so?

Yes, it's absolutely true. When I started, I had nothing but knowledge of radio electronics in my head and great enthusiasm. It's 2004. People were just starting to acquire cell phones and computers. They were quite expensive at that time, and the need to repair these devices was very urgent.

How did you develop your business?

To be honest, I started thinking about development as such relatively recently. Up to this point, I have treated business like a regular job. It's just that someone works for others, and I worked for myself. Of course, there was development - I gradually acquired the necessary equipment, the provision of customization services and the sale of accessories, which became more and more in demand over time, joined the repair. Regular customers appeared, and with them competitors grew around like mushrooms. But we worked and grew little by little.

Are you talking about competitors? After all, the matter is so specific and requires appropriate knowledge.

Yes, in our small town with a population of 100 thousand people there are about 20 repair shops. You have correctly noted this about knowledge - not everyone possesses it. Despite the competition, we are all friends with each other, and some people command professional respect, and I am sincerely sorry for the clients of others. Unknowingly, some would-be masters spoil the technique, sometimes without the possibility of recovery. Fortunately, there are very few such random people and they rarely stay for long.

Does this competition affect your earnings?

To say that it is not reflected at all would be unfair. However, each workshop has its own customers and we practically do not cross each other's paths. I will repeat once again that I treated the case as a job for a long time and my income was never below the average salary in the city, but rather exceeded it several times.

In addition, I have never seen competitors in other workshops. We are friends with all the masters and they are all frequent guests. Some come for advice in a difficult situation, others buy a spare part, others just say hello and have a coffee. At the same time, I can always count on reciprocity on their part.

Do you run your business officially?

Yes, all these years I am registered as and regularly pay contributions to the pension fund. We have two types of activity: trade and provision of services to the population.

Who does your bookkeeping?

We keep records of goods and services ourselves, and a private accounting firm prepares reports to the tax service for us.

Note from the Moneymaker Factory: We strongly recommend that you study the material Internet accounting "", from the article you will learn how you can independently maintain tax and accounting records, saving money on paying for the services of professional accountants.

How many years have you been with your firm?

In total, we have been working for 8 years. During this time, a lot has changed. I started out alone with a small rented space. Then I got a hired worker. A wonderful guy Andrei, who worked for me for two years.

He was engaged in the acceptance of equipment for repairs and communication with clients. Our paths parted due to the fact that Andrei needed a higher salary due to the difficult situation in the family and I did not keep it. His place was taken by my wife, and it turned out to be such a kind of family row.

Do you work with your wife? How do you manage to keep family and work separate?

Yes, we have been working together for the past three years. We are familiar with your surprise. Many consider this approach to be impossible. It so happened that it was time for my wife to leave the decree, and I needed an employee. So we have combined business with pleasure.

The separation happened somehow by itself. It's just that at work we solve work issues, and at home we solve household issues. It is easier to work with a loved one, because you know that you can always trust him. In addition, during her work she gained sufficient experience and became familiar with technology. In 99% of cases, the malfunction is determined directly at the acceptance.

What are your plans for the future?

There are plans and they are already at the stage of implementation. At the very beginning of your conversation, I told you that I was thinking about business development. The fact is that we have become cramped in the premises that we have rented for the last three years. The range of services expanded, there was more work, and we needed another master.

But the space of 12 square meters simply did not allow for another workplace. There was not enough room for shop windows either. I also wanted to organize a waiting area for our clients, because most of the repairs are carried out very quickly - 30-40 minutes.

We have found a room that meets our requirements, and at this moment we are in the process of moving. It is not yet fully equipped and there is nothing to brag about. Advertising and furniture have already been ordered. Out of the box only the reception desk.

As you can see, my table is still on the way, and I had to build a temporary version.

When we took this step, we were very worried that in the first month the premises would not be equipped with work. However, our clients dissuaded us from this. People came the same day we collected the keys and signed the lease. That is why the move was delayed. We simply do not have enough time - people call and come, counting on our help and we cannot refuse them, since it is not our rules to refuse clients.

Alexander, you are talking about expanding the range of services, what do you mean?

First of all, the list of equipment that we repair has expanded. I started with the repair of cell phones and gradually began to deal with the repair of computers, laptops, smartphones and tablets appeared. Also, car navigators and registrars, e-books are often brought in for repair.

In addition, we began to sell spare parts for other craftsmen - another reason for moving to a larger room, there was not enough space for a warehouse. Also, people are in demand for printing photographs, making photocopies, downloading melodies, theme pictures, installing operating systems and programs on a computer. Now we will carry out all this.

We advertise ourselves with the quality of our work. Yes, you understood correctly - the main type of our advertising is the so-called "word of mouth". Our clients advertise us themselves, advising their relatives and friends. And it pleases, because the feeling that you really helped the person, and he was satisfied with your service is priceless. Perhaps, in this area, this is the most effective advertising method.

Sometimes satisfied customers take several business cards in order to distribute them to their friends. Of course, we have street signs that grab attention and talk about our main services. Also in development and almost ready for launch is an Internet site with an integrated online store.

In connection with our move, many regular customers come to us just to see our pillar sign, which has become recognizable. Some of them say that they were looking for us while we were closed for the move, and someone just comes to visit - to say hello and congratulate on the opening.

How much money has been invested in your firm in total?

It's a difficult question. Everything was invested gradually and as needed. The lion's share has always been spent on renting premises, because in this business it is very important to locate a point in a very crowded place. Of course, if you start with your own premises, then the costs would be less.

But the very fact that Essentuki is a resort town implies very high real estate prices. Premises in the city center are comparable in cost to the Moscow region and few people can afford to buy it. Part of the funds was invested in equipment, which is quite expensive - for example, prices for a soldering station for laptop motherboards start at 60 thousand rubles.

And this station is a drop in the ocean from the required range of equipment - you still need several soldering irons, a good microscope, ultrasonic baths of various sizes, soldering hair dryers of various powers, power supplies, special boxes for flashing phones (one for each brand and generation of phones). I have never counted, but offhand at market prices the workshop equipment will cost 300-400 thousand rubles. Another part is spent on the purchase of spare parts and components for repair. The average turnover for spare parts per year is about 500 thousand rubles.

Has the cost paid off?

I have already said that the equipment was purchased as needed. And this means that there was a demand and a need for it. Yes, the equipment, with a smart head on the shoulders, pays off very quickly. Spare parts are usually ordered for specific repairs - this applies to expensive spare parts, when the cost of the part itself reaches 8-9 thousand rubles. Therefore, the recoupment of the spare part occurs immediately after the device is handed over to the client.

Of course, actual and demanded spare parts should always be in stock - this is about 100 thousand rubles in money. Now, in connection with the move, additional investments were required for the purchase of furniture, dividing the premises into zones, organizing ventilation, but these costs are justified and will pay off soon. Today we can already afford it and feel the need for it.

Is this business good for everyone?

I would not say that. Rather, this is a business for people who are in love with technology (laughs). Of course, you can approach this with serious intentions and hire craftsmen to work, purchase equipment and spare parts, but in this case, it will take a long time to become self-sufficient.

In addition, different regions have their own needs and mentality. We communicate with many craftsmen from all over Russia, and experience shows different consumer demand in different cities. In addition, I believe that work should be, first of all, a love affair. For those who want to start making money on electronics repair, I advise you to start from scratch as I do. If a person has potential, then he will quickly acquire regular clients, which will allow him to develop.

It's easier to start now than 8 years ago - there is no problem with spare parts, there is a lot of information on the Internet on the analysis and repair of equipment, the equipment has become more accessible. If a person approaches the matter with sufficient perseverance, then he will come to success quickly enough. This is not a business where you can make millions, but it will always provide a stable and decent income.

Are there any pitfalls in electronics repair, as in the form of earnings?

Yes, they are, as indeed, everywhere. Recently, a lot of rather expensive devices have appeared, and when they get to be repaired, a rather big responsibility appears. For example, smartphones of the latest models cost about a thousand dollars, while being quite complex technical devices. The risk of damaging an expensive spare part during disassembly is very high and only many years of experience can save it.

There are also unscrupulous clients, but fortunately there are not many of them. For 8 years, several boxes of equipment not taken from the repair have been assembled, in which money and time have been invested. But against the general background, these are trifles. In addition, this kind of trouble happens in any business, and few entrepreneurs can boast of a complete absence of problems.

Thank you, Alexander, for such a detailed story. We wish you success in your existing business and new endeavors.

Thank you for the interview and the opportunity to tell about your favorite business and share your experience with readers. I also wish your project prosperity. You are engaged in a very rewarding business that helps budding entrepreneurs to believe in themselves and achieve success!

Naturally, repairing phones requires tools and equipment. Moreover, the more difficult the repair is supposed to be, the more complex and expensive equipment will be needed. Screwdrivers alone are not enough. So, I'll start with the bare minimum:

1. Screwdriver Set... To begin with, you need ordinary flat and curly (cross-shaped) screwdrivers, preferably small + at least 3 star-type screwdrivers. They have exactly the same shape and differ only in dimension. First, we need sizes T5, T6, T7. These are the most common sizes of screws for mobile phones and similar equipment. You can also purchase a set of screwdrivers, which immediately contains all the necessary types of replaceable nozzles. The disadvantage of this set is that you often have to change the attachments.

2. Scalpel... An irreplaceable thing for stripping wires, tracks, etc. You can buy it at any pharmacy. It is preferable, of course, to old domestic scalpels, since they are practically eternal. The current ones very quickly become dull and all kinds of notches appear on the blade.

3. A set of tweezers ... It is desirable to have at least 2 types: straight and curved. You will appreciate the merits of each during the renovation process. You can do with one, but, in some cases, you just need to crawl into a hard-to-reach place with the help of one or another.

4. Pencil eraser brush ... A very handy thing. At first glance, an ordinary pencil, but instead of the usual rod, it has an eraser (eraser) rod. Designed for cleaning contact surfaces from oxides, dirt, darkening, etc. After such processing, the contacts look like new - shiny and beautiful. On the back side of the pencil there is a brush, which is very convenient to sweep away "erasure products", as well as a regular saw and similar dirt that accumulates during the use of the phone.

5. Toothbrush- new or used (most importantly, not vice versa). Designed primarily to remove small oxides from moisture in the phone. Used in conjunction with spec. liquid ("wash").

6. Multimeter- a very necessary device. The method of different measurements allows you to learn a lot about the state of the phone and is one of the main devices in diagnosing malfunctions and repairing the phone. The multimeter model is not critical, since all have the necessary functions. I will only say that you should not buy the cheapest "china", since they are unreliable and the readings during measurements are not always accurate.

7. Universal wall charger ... You also need to have it in your arsenal. Allows you to charge any rechargeable battery of a cell phone, digital camera, which is very important during the repair process. After all, devices often come with discharged batteries and without their own standard charger (over time, of course, you need to acquire all possible chargers and preferably original ones). This is where this SZU comes to the rescue, popularly called "crab", "frog", etc.

8. Hot Air Rework Station ... Required without fail. Without it, complex repairs (with soldering chips, filters, etc.) cannot be done. Designed for dismantling and subsequent mounting of chips in a BGA case (and there are practically no others in a modern phone) by heating with a stream of directed hot air with adjustable flow rate and temperature.

9. Microscope. It is necessary for a thorough visual inspection of the mobile phone board and its components during the repair process, as well as when performing delicate work using soldering, accurately installing BGA chips and other elements on their seats (positioning), as well as subsequent control. You can find a suitable microscope on the websiteoptical devices in Rostov-on-Don.

10. Card holder. An irreplaceable thing when repairing complex microelectronics. It allows you to reliably hold boards of different sizes, thereby facilitating the work of the master, since there is no need to hold the board with your hand. Structurally, they come in a variety of configurations and sizes.

11. Ultrasonic bath (RAS)
... Without it, about repairing cell phones that have been exposed to moisture, water, beer, coffee J, etc. you can forget. We all know that electronics are not friendly with water and its derivatives. Numerous oxides with their miracles instantly appear along all circuits (especially feeding ones). It is impossible to clean such a board using the usual dry mechanical method. We have to resort to cleaning specials. liquids using a coarse brush. By the way, I'll tell you right away - all sorts of colognes and alcohol are not suitable !!! But, more often than not, such a cleaning method is ineffective, since moisture penetrates into all possible and impossible places and brings us, repairmen, a lot of problems. But not everything is so bad if there is an ultrasonic bath. Again, a warning - the well-known "Retona" - this is not what we need and has nothing to do with our business.
Very easy to use and relatively reliable in normal use. It works like this: either only distilled water is poured into the bath itself, or it is the same, but with a small addition of various agents that make it a little easier to launder the board. These are various solvents such as "Mister Muscle", "FAIRY" and the like. By level, about a little more than half of the bath is filled. Next, a previously frozen and previously oxidized board is placed in the bath, and then the ultrasonic cleaning process itself is turned on.

Such RAS most often have two fixed power levels - usually 30W and 50-60W, which are switched on separately. The ultrasonic cleaning process looks like this: a radiating element (piezoelectric quartz) is rigidly attached to the bottom of the bath itself, which emits vibrations with a frequency of about 40-60 KHz and mechanically transfers them through the bottom of the bath itself of the liquid that is poured into it. Further, due to cavitation (cavitation is the propagation of sound waves in a liquid), the board is washed, as well as the splitting and destruction of the formed oxides and sulfations on the board surface and elements.

The ultrasonic bath does not require special care. The main thing is not to allow liquid to spill inside the case, otherwise failure is inevitable. If the body is not sealed, it is advisable to do this in advance with a conventional sealant. It is also not recommended to turn on the recirculating system when idle or with a liquid level much less than the average, since the piezoelectric element will be heavily loaded and may fail prematurely.

12. BGA - stencils and BGA - paste ... For beginners it will hardly be a useful necessity, but if you are planning to seriously engage in reballing BGA chips, then you just need these materials.

And that's what it is for. The design feature of the microcircuits in the BGA package provides for the absence of the usual contact pins that can be soldered with an ordinary thin soldering iron. Flat contact pads are located on the bottom of the case, and such a chip is soldered to the board by applying solder to the contact pads. As a result, they look like small balls, which must be of the same size and shape. After that, such a microcircuit is installed in its place and, after melting the solder, it settles a little, as a result of which the gap between the microcircuit and the board remains very scanty - just by the size of the solder balls that have settled.

The fact is that if it becomes necessary to dismantle the BGA-microcircuit, then the molten balls of solder burst at the moment of removing the chip. One part of the solder remains on the board, the other on the chip itself. It is impossible to install such a chip back without preparing (rolling) new contact solder balls. For this we need stencils and solder paste for BGA reballing.

As for the solder paste for rolling new balls on BGA chips, here the choice is formed after testing several brands and types. As they say - to each his own. Someone needs it thicker, someone more liquid.

13. No-clean flux gel ... It is used for soldering electronic components. It has a high boiling point, therefore it is excellent for mounting chips in BGA packages with a short distance between the contact balls and the board surface. No-clean - it means that it has no chemical activity after soldering and, accordingly, does not cause corrosive damage to the soldered elements if it is impossible to remove the flux residues. Also, after solidification, the flux forms some film on the elements and between them, which gives additional protection against oxidation and moisture ingress.

14. Braid for removing solder ... Designed to prepare soldering points and is used to remove excess solder on the contact pads. Ideal for preparing solder spots for BGA chips.

15. Soldering iron electric 25W and 40W. For soldering massive discrete elements with high heat dissipation. They are used less often in the repair of mobile phones, but they are absolutely necessary. For example, the seats of charging connectors, headsets, etc. warm up well.

16. Power supply unit (PSU)
... When repairing phones, and not only, it is simply necessary. When diagnosing and repairing, it becomes necessary to power the device from the power supply unit to monitor certain processes, as well as in the event of a complete discharge of the battery or its absence. For our purposes, an adjustable power supply with an output voltage of 0-15 Volts and a current of 1 Ampere or more is suitable. When choosing a power supply unit, you should pay attention to the presence of voltage and current indicators in it, since during diagnostics and repairs we need to control these parameters. PSUs with digital and analog (pointer) indicators are on sale. So, it is preferable to have a power supply unit with analog indicators, since they are visually much more informative, especially with rapidly changing processes in view of their very low inertia. Digital indicators are not always able to display the change in one or another parameter and, more often than not, display only extreme values.

Most often, PSUs have only a power cord in the kit, and at the output there are only terminals - clamps for connecting connecting wires, with which the consumer will be connected. It is very convenient to connect the red and black wires to the "+" and "-" terminals, respectively, at the ends of which you can attach small clips of the "crocodile" type.

17. Oscilloscope
- an electronic device, which is designed for measuring and subsequent visual display on the screen of various quantities and signals, their amplitude and shape. There are many different types. There are no special requirements for this device, the main thing is that it is serviceable and has a bandwidth of at least 50 - 100 MHz. Well, which one to choose - on a cathode-ray tube or with an LCD, large or small - it's up to you. Here the question is already about the price and your capabilities.

18. Computer with Internet access. It all depends on your preferences. As for the computer, it is precisely for the repair that great performance is not required. The main thing is that the programs are loaded quickly and that it is comfortable to work in them. There is only one caveat: to work with phones that require updating or restoring software, the computer must be protected from accidental power surges in the network or even turning it off. For these purposes, you must use an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) or, even more preferable, a laptop. For software repairs, it is recommended to have a separate computer on which only programs for working with the corresponding programmers are installed, and, of course, a set of all current firmware for the maximum possible number of phones. In any case, if the computer is connected to the Internet, it will not be difficult to download this or that firmware.

19. A set of programmers for software repair of cell phones. There are a large number of programmers, both universal - with support for a large number of brands of phones, and designed for a specific brand (manufacturer) phones. There is no one and the best. Therefore, before buying, you need to familiarize yourself with the capabilities of several and choose for yourself according to financial capabilities and, accordingly, needs for repair. And as needed, buy the necessary programmers.

roll up

Today almost every person has a mobile phone. People cannot imagine their existence without it. But mobile phones do not last forever, after a certain period of time they fail. In such a situation, there are two ways out for device owners:

  • Purchase a new one.
  • Hand over to a phone repair service center.

Often, especially when the device is expensive, refurbishment works are preferred by owners.... As a result, mobile phone and tablet repair shop services are in great demand today. It is possible to organize such a service business without efforts and large investments.

Advantages

  • The service center for the repair of damaged phones provides for a minimum of requirements that could restrict entry into this field of activity.
  • You can open a phone repair service center without certificates.
  • The center is only one of the many services provided to the population in terms of everyday life, and therefore there is no need to install a cash register to carry out settlement transactions.

Competition

This business is highly competitive. But the main thing is that in the service sector, most craftsmen do not consider each other as competitors, maintain friendly relations with each other, often communicate, help each other in difficult situations, share their work experience, etc.

There are times when one service point is engaged in the repair of one brand of phones, for example, Sony, and the other - repairs the Samsung and its accessories. Alternative case: one workshop offers a repair service for smartphones, cellular devices, the second makes tablets, laptops. In this case, the masters even establish partnerships with each other in terms of mutual business advertising. And this is a huge plus for the business.

Despite the large number of open service centers for cell phone repair, there are few good cell phone repair technicians, just like in any other activity, there are not enough professionals. Conclusion: competition in this service sector is rather low, and profitability is high. Therefore, if you decide to start your own cell phone repair business, go for it!

Mobile phones have long ceased to be a luxury and a toy only for wealthy people. The diversity of the smartphone market provides both cheap models and flagship phones at a variety of prices. But no matter how much a smartphone costs, technology loves to break down, you have to take a gadget for repair quite often, because the slightest damage can affect its performance. It follows from this that phone repair, as a business, will be in great consumer demand. The launch of such a workshop does not require large initial investments and special knowledge. The main thing is to love and understand technology, or hire someone who is well versed in this.

Relevance and benefits of the workshop

The relevance of the phone repair workshop is due to a number of reasons. People try to be more economical when buying equipment, they do not want to change it often, therefore, in case of any breakdown initially.

Also an important fact is the abundance of gadgets on store shelves, various companies annually release more and more new models, which they buy with pleasure, and then undergo repairs due to emerging problems.

Often, it is much cheaper to fix faulty equipment than to buy a new one - people understand this, therefore they prefer small workshops, where they will revive the phone for almost a penny.

Business benefits are:

  1. The minimum start-up costs required to open.
  2. If the entrepreneur is a master in the field of technology, then you can work for yourself.
  3. This business is very flexible, it can be constantly expanded by taking various equipment for repair and providing additional services.
  4. Minimal risks. The entrepreneur invests initially a small amount, which is easy to recoup in a couple of months, and if the business does not go well, sell the tools. In such a business, you do not have to sell the remaining goods, negotiate returns with suppliers, and so on.
  5. High and stable demand for repair services.

If we talk about the disadvantages, then it is worth mentioning the high level of competition in the market, low monthly income. In most cases, the workshop will be held by a specialist who can fix any kind of breakdown, if you are not one, or if you did not hire one - people will leave your workshop for competitors.

How much does it cost to open a workshop

This type of business is not picky about start-up investments; absolutely everyone can open such a workshop.

List of starting costs:

  1. Registration of documentation - 10,000 rubles.
  2. Cosmetic repairs - 20,000-25,000 rubles.
  3. Purchase of equipment for the repair of equipment - 55,000 rubles.
  4. Purchase of tools for repairing smartphones - 35,000 rubles.
  5. Advertising - 15,000 rubles.
  6. Additional expenses - 5,000 rubles.

In total, to open a small workshop, you will need about 150,000 rubles.

How much can you earn from phone repair

It is impossible to give an exact figure for the monthly income, it all depends on the number of clients and the cost of renovation work. By drawing up a business plan for the repair of phones, you can roughly calculate the future income of the workshop.

For 1 working day, on average, five people come to the workshop, who bring in 3,000-4,000 rubles in earnings. Thus, in 30 days, the total income will be 90,000-120,000 rubles. Working with two days off a week, the revenue will be 66,000-88,000 rubles.

After deducting all costs, the net profit will be about 20,000-25,000 rubles per month.

Taking into account the initial investment in the amount of 120-150,000 rubles, the workshop will pay for itself in 6-7 months of work.

Business registration

The first step to solving the question of how to open a cell phone repair will be the registration of a business and the execution of all the necessary documents.

It is easier to choose an individual business as a form of business - this is the best option for a repair shop.

Documents for registration of an individual entrepreneur include:

  • Registration application.
  • Passport, its copy.
  • Payment of state duty (receipt).

In the case of renting premises, the form of taxation can be chosen by UTII (single income tax or simplified tax system).

You will also need to indicate the appropriate OKVED codes:

  • 72 - repair of electrical household appliances.
  • 74 - repair of electrical products not included in other categories.

No special licenses are required to open.

We select a room for a workshop

In this matter, you need to rely on whether the entrepreneur himself will be engaged in repairs or hire people. In the first case, you only need a small room to receive phones for repair, and the workshop itself can be equipped at home, so the rental costs will be significantly reduced.

Otherwise, it is necessary to rent a room that includes two rooms - one for the reception, and the second for the workshop itself, where the specialists will work.

Several criteria for choosing a room:

  • The presence of all communications.
  • High-speed Internet connection.
  • Ability to ground equipment.
  • Ventilation in the room.

The location of the workshop should be:

  • Near large shopping centers or in them.
  • Densely populated sleeping areas.
  • Near the university and schools.

In general, the place must be chosen so that the flow of people always passes by your workshop, so that in the event of a breakdown, people will know where to go.

Staff recruitment

It is important to understand that opening a phone repair business is a delicate process, the master must clearly understand what he is doing in order not to worsen the situation. If the entrepreneur himself is versed in technology, then additional hiring of an employee will not be required.

Otherwise, you need to find a professional who will easily deal with a variety of breakdowns. Usually, in small cities, one master can calmly cope with the entire volume of work, but in larger cities, 2-3 specialists will need to be hired. But this question is also individual, it all depends on the flow of customers to your workshop.

When hiring employees, you need to think about concluding a liability agreement. An employee who accepts an expensive phone will be responsible for it, which in unpleasant circumstances will remove all responsibility from the entrepreneur.

Purchase of furniture and necessary equipment

For stable work, you will need a minimum set of furniture - it should not take up much space in the room.

List of required furniture:

  • Table and chair - 9,500 rubles.
  • Table lamp - 1,000 rubles.
  • Working laptop - 20,000 rubles.
  • Safe for storage - 8,000 rubles.
  • Phone - 1000 rubles.
  • Wardrobe and racks for equipment and personal belongings - 8,000 rubles.
  • Other furniture and equipment for employees - 7,000 rubles.

You will also need to buy a starter kit for repairing smartphones:

  • Soldering station - 4000.
  • Ultrasonic bath - 2,500.
  • Power supply unit - 2,500.
  • Digital oscilloscope - 8,000.
  • Vacuum tweezers - 1,500.
  • Miniature tools (screwdrivers, tweezers, etc.) - 6,000.
  • Other instruments, depending on the services provided - 7,000.

The equipment can be bought both new and used. Finding "used" equipment is easy at online auctions.

Workshop advertising campaign

The best advertising for a small business will be high-quality services and reasonable prices. It can be quite difficult to build up a customer base, but by providing a good renovation, you can gradually increase the flow of customers. Even 30-40 people who are satisfied with your work will increase the influx 3-4 times, simply by telling friends and acquaintances that they were satisfied with the service and the work performed.

But you shouldn't rely only on word of mouth. It will not be superfluous to use traditional advertising methods:

  • Hang a bright sign at the entrance, put up pillars at the entrance to the workshop.
  • Discounts and promotions for phone repair will bring new customers to the workshop.
  • The regular distribution of flyers should not be neglected either.
  • And of course, advertise your workshop online.

What services can be provided

Typically, the business of repairing equipment can be divided into two categories:

  1. Block software repair services are repairs without physical intervention, which include reinstalling the system, installing programs, cleaning phones from garbage, etc.
  2. Physical repair service - involves directly repairing components, replacing parts of the gadget.

Services that can be provided in the workshop:

  • Reinstalling the operating system.
  • Installing programs on the phone.
  • Sticking protective glass and film.
  • Resuscitation of the phone after liquid has entered it.
  • Replacement of components.

There is also a service for analyzing phone problems. Sometimes customers come to services dissatisfied with the operation of the device, but they do not find any visible reasons for the breakdown. Doing an inspection of the gadget for free or taking money for it - it all depends on your choice.

Repair of equipment with a visit to the house

Include telephone repair in your business plan - a service that is very popular among the population. It is necessary to hire an employee who will go to clients' homes and fix the repairs, if possible, technicians are right at the client's place.

Various factors motivate people to use such services: someone does not want to leave the gadget for a long time in the wrong hands, someone simply does not want to go anywhere, and so on.

Which is better: buy a ready-made repair business or start your own business

It is very easy to find an offer for the sale of a ready-made business for the repair of phones, tablets and other equipment on message boards on the Internet. There are dozens of such offers every month, and the prices of such a business start from 300,000 rubles and go up to several million.

When purchasing a ready-made business, you should not be sure that everything will be smooth and the profit will flow into your hands by itself. A profitable business is not sold so easily - it makes no sense. This means that there are some hidden problems that the new owner will have to deal with later.

Of course, a huge plus is that there is already a developed customer base, specialists have been hired, and all the nuances have already been made. When buying a business, pay attention to whether:

  • Average revenue for the year, month.
  • The value of a collection of assets.
  • Double-check the tenant and employees to see if they are going to leave, or if the owner is being evicted from the rented location.

Creating your own business from scratch is painstaking work, but it requires much less start-up investments and does not conceal hidden threats within itself.

Following from all that has been said, we can say that the phone repair business is a profitable business with a constant customer demand for services, but you should not expect huge amounts of profit. A small workshop will bring from 20,000 rubles a month in net profit, over time the amount can grow, it all depends on the further development of the company. The flow of customers can be increased if you use advertising techniques correctly, both in real life and on the Internet. In order for the workshop to flourish, it will require competent employees who can reanimate any equipment, cope with even the most complex breakdowns. And high-quality work at affordable prices will improve the reputation of the workshop, having a beneficial effect on income and further business development.
